About us
Silver Comedy is a social enterprise that seeks to enrich the lives of older people through actively engaging them in comedy workshops and performances. There is a video about us on the home page
We aim to:
- Provide a relaxed welcoming environment for people to have fun and share laughter
- Reduce social isolation
- Challenge stereotypes associated with ageing
- Give older people a forum to explore their issues through comedy
We work throughout the UK and with any kind of older people’s group, including day centres, supported housing and care homes. We also undertake intergenerational work and can assist organisations who would like to develop entertaining ways to consult and involve their customers. We’re now listed by Nesta as innovators in the field of ageing in their guide to best practice: Ageing Innovators
Our workshops
- Silver Comedy workshops range from interactive comedy engagement sessions that feature fun games and improvisation, to sketch writing courses that often lead to live performances
- You can view the what we do page for more details
- Plus there is the now legendary Silver Comedy Stand Up Of The Year Competition that we’re undertaking with Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival
- As well as the video on the home page, there is a selection of videos and podcasts of our work in the sidebar on the right, and click here to read the Guardian article on our project The Queen’s Visit. Finally, visit the what they say page to see press coverage and feedback from our clients
