New project work agreed at a Haringey care home
Silver Comedy has now been invited to undertake a series of comedy workshops for residents at a care home in Haringey. This is following on from Silver Comedy's successful work in a Haringey day care centre for older people with dementia. Our work here starts on 26th July 2010.

Stand up comedian Mr Cee becomes new Silver Comedy Training Associate
Silver Comedy is pleased to announce that professional stand up comedian and comedy trainer Mr Cee has just joined our team of comedy trainers. Mr Cee has performed at various comedy venues including the Comedy Store, The Hackney Emire and Jongleurs. He has also taught aspiring comedians of all ages at the Comedy School. Mr Cee has a strong social commitment which has led him to work with a variety of charitable organisations and youth groups.

Central & Cecil Housing Trust Intergenerational Workshops
Fifty of Central & Cecil's residents and service users participated in Silver Comedy's two intergenerational workshops at last Saturday's "New Beginnings" Conference. Course participants developed their skills in improvisational story telling. "They generated a lot of fun and laughter," commented Chris Robinson, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Central & Cecil.

Central & Cecil Housing Trust Radio Project
Silver Comedy is now developing a very exciting new radio project course with Central & Cecil Housing Trust. We will work with their tenants over the Summer to develop comedy sketches that can then be recorded and broadcast at the launch of Central & Cecil Radio.

Capital Age Festival Theatre of the Absurd Project
We have been commissioned to run a "Theatre of the Absurd" project that will form part of Capital Age Project's Summer Festival on the South Bank on Saturday 10th July.

Capital Age Festival Podcast Course
Silver Comedy joined forces with Capital Age Festival to run a series of workshops for comedy performers (aged 50-80) to produce a comedy podcast.
The material was created over a series of 8 workshops and the performance was recorded live at City Hall on the South Bank in London as part of the Capital Age Festival Winter Gathering..

Educational Partnership Project with Middlesex University’s Social Work Department and Haringey Council
Silver Comedy has been invited to partner Middlesex University’s Social Work Department and Haringey Older People’s Support Service in developing an innovative learning and training project that will seek to confront issues such as ageing and well-being in later life.
We are working alongside local vulnerable older people, their carers and staff to produce new learning materials and a video for social work staff and students while also exploring ways of using comedy for therapeutic purposes. The work will be completed in the Summer of 2010.

Silver Surfers' Joke Competition
During this year's Silver Surfers' Day, the annual older people's computing event, Digital Unite ran a Joke Roll - an opportunity for people to tell jokes online.
We at Silver Comedy picked three winners! Overall winner, Wendy White's joke was sweet and simple and about a Grandad. It won her a £25 Amazon voucher. Contributors of the Computer Joke and the Nelson Joke won £15 and £10 vouchers, respectively.

Silver Comedy tutor works with ex-Sun editor
Chris Head, Silver Comedy tutor and Director of Training, gave aspiring silver comedian Kelvin Mackenzie a lesson in delivering stand-up comedy as part of a TV show on the new digital channel Blighty.
